I admit there are not many traditional television shows I watch anymore. My DVR used to be filled with multiple shows on every night, and now it is about 90% filled with children’s television shows. I do, however, still have my handful of shows I refuse to miss. I have been a fan to Top Chef on Bravo since it began, and now this fall, they are beginning a new show called Top Chef: Just Desserts.
The show combines two of my favorite things into one show: Top Chef and desserts. I am already in love with the show though I have yet to see a single episode. Shows like this are why I keep my satellite TV programming, so I know I get all the channels I could possibly want and I can be confident I will not miss a thing. If this show is anywhere as entertaining and fascinating as Top Chef is, I will be thoroughly hooked. Shows like these are ones where I know I will count down the minutes throughout the entire day, and hurry to put my child to be early so that I can start the show as closely to the actual air time as possible. I may not ever be capable of making any of the desserts they show, but I can certainly watch and appreciate the talent.

I know of a great way to help save the planet, my budget and my closet space. Just make it fashionable for me to wear yoga pants for the rest of my life. Actually, get this, make them out of wool which is supposed to be the green cotton and make sure they do not itch, then let me have three pairs, one in black, one in grey, and one in navy. Okay I might need a few more then that. Then, I will buy some t-shirts to go with them. Actually I can choose from t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts. I can even make this look a little bit fancier. With the flared pants I can put a slight pair of heels and add a sparkly shirt, but that would seriously ruin my comfy lifestyle so…. I will stick with flip flops or sneakers.
I opened up my cable bill recently to find that the charges had gone up to $200 a month. That is for internet and cable. I don’t get anything special on my cable. I do not get HBO or Stars or anything. Just normal cable. Half the time it blinks out on me with some sort of power problem. Usually comes back on in a few seconds. My internet is a different story. My internet is terrible. Every 20 minutes or so I have to go back to the main room and reset everything. I am always refreshing the modem that my cable company gave me to refresh the server. It is a nightmare. I spend more time offline then I do online. Yet now they were chargin me $200 a month? I started looking around really fast.
I knew that I was probably going to have to this in seperate bundles now. I was okay with this if I could save some money. 2) What would Gregg Steinhafel (CEO of Target – one of my favorite
stores) do? If you were the head of some big corporation like Target, how would you run yourbusiness? Would you use a different strategy if something wasn’t working? Would step back and evaluate from time to time so that your efforts could be most effective? Probably. Would you sulk and whine and stop trying because you ran into some tangles? Probably not.
It’s not personal, it’s business.
If your efforts have been failing, then instead of allowing discouragement or frustration get your goat (love that expression….but what the heck does it mean?)! Push through and call a company-wide strategy session with yourself…pull out the dry mark board, charts, spreadsheets and fancy Mont Blanc pens and get to work.
